SVEN focuses on the acoustical emissions of vehicles based on the fact that they cause significant annoyance. It considers requirements by automotive industry, consumers, society and environment. The main aim is a qualitative improvement of the traffic noise situation in urban and suburban areas.

The work includes

• measurements and analyses for the understanding of exterior vehicle noise perception and resulting effects on man,
• provision of suitable descriptors and methodologies based on comprehensive laboratory tests,
• dissemination of expert knowledge by creating a sound database study on the transfer to other transportation devices.
