  General Information

The objective of PULS is to demonstrate how the increasing noise exposure of citizens can be mitigated in a preventive and sustainable way by adequate city and land-use planning. It aims at sensitising the planners for the topic noise and supporting them in integrating and handling environmental noise in their planning processes. The outcome is a manual which provides basic information on noise, its propagation and possibilities of noise control measures as well as guidelines for the effective treatment of noise in different planning phases and situations. Thereby, the focus is directed mainly to the noise arising from road and railway traffic and from outdoor equipment and to dwellings and residential areas as most sensitive zones of noise immission.
