  General Information

HELINOVI will investigate the potential of tail-rotor noise and helicopter vibration reduction by modifying important design parameters such as the position of the tail rotor, the sense of rotation and its rotation speed, as well as the main-rotor to fuselage distance. This investigation will be supported by unique wind tunnel tests on an available scaled-down model of the full helicopter configuration, full scale flight tests and extensive use of validated design prediction codes covering the complete range of modelling alternatives ranging from comprehensive up to advanced CFD codes. Pre-test calculations will be performed prior to code-to-test validation for both noise and vibration predictions, ensuring their assessment as well as their eventual improvement.
